Buy Animal Rescue: Adopt a Shelter Pet Special Stamps from the US Postal Service!
We all still use stamps at least some of the time, unless you're one of those people who does absolutely everything online like paying bills, sending e-cards, corresponding only by email or social networking sites... So, if you are going to need stamps anyway, buying stamps that benefit homeless pets is a plus. During the launch of the special 44 cent first class stamps by the USPS, Halo: Purely for Pets, the pet food company co-owned by Ellen DeGeneres, is donating 1 million meals to shelters all over the country.
The USPS website says that the stamps were created to make more people aware of shelter pets and their need for homes since almost 1/2 of all animals that are taken to shelters end up being euthanized, even though many of them would have made spectacular pets if they were just given the chance.
Everyone can help shelter animals. You can adopt a shelter pet, volunteer or donate to shelters or help get the word out by using the new animal rescue stamps. The stamps come in 10 designs with 20 stamps on each sheet. The stamps show photos of pets who were once homeless. Only 1 of the pets whose photo appears on the stamps was still waiting for a home at the time the photos were taken and the other 9 had already been adopted. I don't need stamps now but I am going to buy several sheets of the gorgeous animal rescue stamps anyway. I'll need stamps in the future and I want to do more to help shelter pets now. If the postal rates go up, I'll just buy sheets of 1 or 2 cent stamps or however much more I need to send a letter! It's easy and I urge you to help too.
